Even strong, smart successful people know when to utilize the help of experts. Maybe you’re not in crisis, just a couple in a “good enough” relationship, but some of the time things get painfully off track. Or an individual whose life seems to be going pretty well on the outside – but privately, you’re hurting. Sometimes, your ways of “getting by” turn into habits that need to be amended. It’s not always clear how to go about initiating change and it helps to have an objective perspective. Counseling is a great way to improve your life. Together we will explore, identify, and rebuild habits and patterns to provide lasting change.
The process doesn’t have to be intimidating. Personally, I like to know what I am getting into before starting and I imagine it’s the same for you. Before beginning our work together, we’ll discuss your goals, explore how best to achieve them and an appropriate timeline.
I also specialize in supporting the relationships of patients and their families struggling with illness, giving patients and families the tools to cope with the emotional impact brought on by a medical illness. It’s not always easy to talk with loved ones in these times. We may feel the need to “be the strong one” or to not be a burden. Illness affects every aspect of one’s life, and can lead to feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, grief and loneliness. Living with a loved one that is struggling with a serious or chronic illness can be an overwhelming and isolating experience.
For those that are seeking a Christian perspective in their counseling, I weave your relationship with God into our work together. The level of Christian perspective involved in your sessions will depend on your own faith journey and needs. By receiving therapy so closely aligned with your spiritual beliefs, you will find it to be an easy transition to mesh what you are learning and gaining in therapy into your everyday life.
I hope this helps you know a bit about me and how I can help. If you have any questions (any questions at all, really) please feel free to email me at aoneill@relationship-center.com and ask!
