Are you feeling disconnected from your loved ones, yourself, or the present moment? As we move through different phases of life, we often encounter periods of loneliness, confusion, and dissatisfaction. Modern life is chaotic and stressful and sometimes it is difficult to prioritize yourself or your relationships. We can survive for years, insisting we are fine, ignoring the subtle signs that we are sinking rather than thriving and fulfilling our potential. As with symptoms of physical illnesses, emotional distress emerges to signal that something needs attention.
MY APPROACH TO COUNSELING
Counseling can help you to clarify your needs and strengthen your relationships. Through counseling, you can learn to identify, understand, and respond to distressing symptoms such as emotional reactivity and conflict. If you have never sought counseling before, the process can be mysterious, and together we can navigate your struggles as ‘fellow travelers’, discovering how to make life more meaningful. My passion is witnessing people heal their attachment wounds as they transform and repair their relationships with themselves and others. Whether you are seeking to alleviate suffering or to gain insight and work towards personal growth, I want to help you reach your goals.
SPECIALTIES
I specialize in counseling individuals, couples, and families affected by addiction. Outside private practice, I work in a residential addiction treatment facility as a counselor and Yoga of 12-Step Recovery Leader. Additionally, I have worked in acute care with diverse individuals struggling with co-occurring severe mental illness and substance abuse including military service members, college students, and people experiencing homelessness. Addiction thrives in silence, and I look forward to holding space for you to explore the roots of your suffering and grow the wings of your recovery.
I prefer to think of my patients and myself as fellow travelers, a term that abolishes distinctions between ‘them’ (the afflicted) and ‘us’ (the healers)… We are all in this together, and there is no therapist and no person immune to the inherent tragedies of existence.
