I work with people who appear to have it all together, but find themselves stressed out, overwhelmed, and unsure of “what to do now.” If you’re struggling with a relationship or it seems things may never get better and the people around you just don’t understand – I can help. My expertise is with military spouses and professionals in high pressure careers struggling with addiction and trauma. I believe grief and loss touch everyone – breakups, divorce, death, career transitions, illness… we all struggle now and then. I enjoy guiding couples, families and individuals toward healing and creating change in their lives.
I tend to be pretty straightforward and goal directed in my approach. I will honestly tell it like it is and share how I see things. However, you decide how fast or slow to proceed toward the goals we’ve created together. I will use all the skills and knowledge I’ve mastered in over 30 years of being a counselor and educator to help you.
I am also an author, primarily of self-help books for children and parents including Why Are You So Scared?: A Child’s Book About Parents with PTSD, Why Are You So Sad?: A Child’s Book About Parental Depression, and I Miss You!: A Military Kid’s Book About Deployment., as well as many articles and booklets for parents and families.
What is MOST important is finding a good fit between client and therapist. It is essential to feel connected, comfortable and truly heard to get the most from therapy. And, I get “it”. I am married with grown children, step-children, and grandchildren. In my spare time, I love to do water aerobics, pottery, writing and genealogy. Feel free to give me a call!
